What this is
Namecheck ("we", "us") reports the availability of a name you submit: domain registration status read from the registries' own RDAP endpoints, handle availability on six named platforms, and a trademark collision signal drawn from public web evidence. You ("you", "the customer") pay per check at the rates published on our pricing page. We are an independent Ounie product.
Billing
There is no subscription. Checks are billed in Ounie credits (1 credit = 1¢) from your shared Ounie wallet at 5 credits per check. Credits are reserved when a check starts and settled only when it resolves something. A check where every single probe returns unknown, or that fails upstream, refunds the reservation in full and automatically. A name that is simply taken everywhere is a real result and is billed. Credits are purchased and managed on ounie.com; your past checks stay readable regardless of your balance.
Keyless x402 calls are paid per call in USDC. A request we can see is invalid is refused before any price is quoted. Otherwise the payment is verified before the check runs and settled only once something has resolved, so a result with nothing behind it is refused rather than charged. A settled x402 payment is final.
What this is not — read this one
The trademark result is a collision signal, not a trademark clearance, and it is not legal advice. It reads public web pages. It does not query the USPTO register, the EUIPO register, or any other national register — there is no keyless way to search them, and every response we return says so explicitly. A low risk band means we found no collisions in what we read; it does not mean the name is free to use, and it is not a defence. Before you commit to a name, have a qualified trademark attorney search the registers in the markets you sell into.
Availability answers are a reading of a third party's systems at a moment in time. A domain shown as available can be registered by someone else a second later, a registry can be wrong or briefly unreachable, and a handle can be reserved, suspended or held without being visible to us. Where we cannot read an answer honestly we report unknown with the reason rather than guessing — treat that as unanswered, never as available. You remain responsible for what you register or act on.
Acceptable use
Submit names, not payloads. Do not use the service to harass or build dossiers on private individuals, and do not present our output as a trademark clearance, a legal opinion, or a guarantee of availability — including by quoting a risk band without the disclaimer that qualifies it. Do not attempt to discover endpoints we have not documented, bypass rate limits, or resell raw access to the service.
Attribution
Registry data is the registries' own; brand evidence and its links belong to their publishers, and we reproduce short excerpts to show our working. If you republish a result, keep the sources with it and follow the terms of the sites you are quoting.
Availability
The service depends on registry RDAP endpoints, six third-party platforms, a search provider and a language model — all of which change over time and may refuse or throttle individual requests under their own policies. Individual probes degrade to unknown; a check where nothing resolves refunds automatically. We cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability.
No warranty
The service is provided as-is, without warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
Refunds
Checks that resolve nothing, and failed checks, refund automatically — the credit reservation is reversed to the exact pools it was drawn from. For anything else, open a support ticket.
Liability
Our liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including any loss arising from your reliance on an availability result or a trademark risk band.
Termination
Either party can terminate at any time. You keep access to checks you have already paid for and can export them before closing your account. We may suspend accounts for material violations of these terms with notice.
